If your baby/toddler is a tummy sleeper (usually all babies eventually sleep on their tummy one point or another) then this is the perfect mattress to buy! Who knew that wovenaire could be so comfortable. Yes me and my husband have sat on it…my husband has even slept on it. We have one of those Ikea twin beds where are toddler is on the bottom and she sleeps on the Newton Crib Mattress (affiliate link) instead of a twin mattress. Sometimes my husband will fall asleep on it and I’ll sit on it with our 2 year old and read a book. So comfortable! It doesn’t sink in as most of the other cheap mattresses do and it is comfortably firm.
It’s great not to have to worry about my two year old and baby having breathing problems. It is a pretty penny but for our daughters who are big on tummy sleeping, I would say it is worth it. No matter how far they sink their face in, I know they’re breathing very comfortably and breathing in air, no chemicals.
While under 12 months Newton suggest that you do not put a crib sheet on the mattress, for maximum breathability for the little ones. The crib cover provided is actually very soft and easily washable if anything were to happen. Just throw it into the laundry by itself (I did it with other items once and got lint over it), air dry or dry on low and your good to go. If you want to clean the mattress fully I love that you can just easily hose it down outside or in your bathtub.
If you love co-sleeping like we do, you can do this super easy Ikea Hack and use your Newton Crib Mattress. Amanda over at Always, Amanda did a perfect job at thinking of this clever idea that is great for having your little ones right beside you safely.
With the perfect swaddle wrap, co-sleeping bed, and white noise, our little ones have had some great long night stretches of sleep. Check out my Newborn Sleeping Essentials here and our Newborn Sleep Routine as well.
